Hajiya Sefinat Ododo, the wife of Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, has urged residents to support her husband, assuring them that he will not disappoint. Speaking during the Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration at the Government House in Lokoja, she reaffirmed her office’s commitment to sustaining women’s empowerment initiatives in the state.

Mrs. Ododo highlighted the various empowerment programs initiated over the past eight months, which have benefited over 1,000 women in small and medium businesses. These initiatives aim to enhance girl child education and vocational training, ensuring a brighter future for young girls and women in Kogi State.

She called on governments at all levels to protect women’s rights, combat violence against women, and support their contributions to nation-building. Mrs. Ododo emphasized the vital role women play in shaping society and stressed the importance of safeguarding them from sexual and gender-based violence.

During her address, she expressed gratitude to Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for her unwavering support and empowerment initiatives, describing her as a beacon of hope for women in Nigeria.

The first lady assured residents that Governor Ododo is dedicated to addressing issues such as poverty, insecurity, healthcare access, and the problem of out-of-school children in the state. She encouraged continued support for her husband’s administration, promising that he will fulfill his commitments to women and youth.

Earlier, Dr. Folashade Ayoade, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, urged women to pray for the success of the governor and his wife, praising Mrs. Ododo for her humility and passion for women’s empowerment.
