    9 die as multiple crash occures along Enugu/Abakaliki expressway

    A total of nine persons have been confirmed dead following a multiple road crash that occured on Thursday afternoon along Enugu/Abakaliki expressway.

    The incident occured at Idodo junction, Enugu, at about 2pm.

    The Ebonyi State Sector, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, who confirmed the incident attributed it to wrongful overtaking.

    Chukwurah said the multiple crash involved a Toyota sienna (gold colour) with reg. No: ENU976SC, a Toyota Hiace bus (white colour) with Reg No: XT610LSR and a Mark truck (Green colour) with no registration number.

    She also disclosed that a total of 13 persons comprising 10 males and 3 females were involved in the accident, adding that 7 victims were confirmed dead at the spot.

    Their bodies, she said, were deposited at Chidex mortuary Idodo, Enugu.

    “Four (4 victims were taken to FETHA2 (3 male and 1 Female) adults. 2 Males were later confirmed dead and was deposited at FETHA 2 (Federal teaching Hospital Abakaliki ) mortuary.

    “1 male and 1 Female are still receiving treatment at FETHA 2. 2 male adults were also taken to Eziulo hospital and are also receiving treatment.

    “Total number of death is nine (9) ( 8 males adult and 1 female adult) and Four (4) injured,” the FRSC boss said.
