    Police Service Commission Announces New Appointments for CPs in FCT and Akwa Ibom

    The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced new appointments within the Nigeria Police Force, marking significant changes in the leadership of key police commands.

    In a statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani , Head, Press and Public Relations Police Service Commission on Saturday in Abuja. CP Peter Ukachi Opara has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. This move comes as a replacement for CP Benneth Igwe, who has been promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police and assigned to Zone 7 Abuja. CP Opara, who previously served as the Commissioner of Police at the Force Secretary’s office and the Deputy Commissioner of Administration and Finance at the Imo State Command, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His extensive career includes roles such as Personal Assistant to former PSC Chairman, IGP Mike Okiro (rtd.), and various leadership positions across the country including Area Commander in Aba and Uyo, and Senior Deputy Defence Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations.

    In another significant change, the PSC has approved the replacement of CP Miller Gagere Dantawaye with CP Festus Eribo as the new Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State Command. CP Dantawaye was one of four CPs recommended for new postings. CP Eribo, a law graduate from the University of Calabar, has held several key positions including Liaison Officer at the Police Service Commission, Assistant Commissioner of Federal Operations at Force Headquarters, and Commissioner of Police for Taraba State. His past roles also include Deputy Commissioner of Operations in Kogi State and Area Commander in Ibadan, Oyo State.

    These appointments are part of the PSC’s ongoing efforts to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force through strategic leadership changes.
