    Kogi govt takes steps to implement new minimum wage.

    The Kogi state government has comenced steps to implement to new minimum wage of N70,000

    To this end the Head of the state civil service, Elijah Evinemi has sent letters out requesting for membership nomination form various Unions.

    A letter from the Head of Kogi state civil service to the chairman,Trade Union Congress,TUC titled ‘request for submission of names of committee members in respect of the new minimu wage on Thursday in Lokoja reads;His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive governor of Kogi state has given approval for the Constitution of the committee on minimum wage

    In view of the above,your are requested to forward the names of two nominees to represent your d in the committee. The names should be forwarded to the office of the Head of service not later than Monday ,16th September,2024.

    Our correspondent gathered that similar letters have been sent to the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Nigeria Union of Pensioners,NUP requesting to send the names of their nominees latest Monday,16th September,2024

    Recall that the Federal government had in May agreed with labour Union as well as the organised private sector on a minimum wage of N70,000 as the new minimum wage to be paid to workers in the country.
