    The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, has inaugurated a steering committee on kidney transplant in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    The committee was inaugurated by the Medical Director of the FMC, Prof. Saad Ahmed.

    The committee comprising senior medical experts, has a top Consultant Nephrologist, Dr Ernest Aniede, as the chairman.

    This was contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Abuja FMC, Mr Obadiah N.K Gana in Abuja.

    “The Abuja FMC Inaugurates Committee On Kidney Transplant

    The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, has inaugurated a steering committee on kidney transplant in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    The committee was inaugurated by the Medical Director of the FMC, Prof. Saad Ahmed.

    The committee comprising senior medical experts, has a top Consultant Nephrologist, Dr Ernest Aniede, as the chairman.

    This was contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Abuja FMC, Mr Obadiah N.K Gana in Abuja.

    “The critical committee is a proactive move to address the issue of the escalating incidents of kidney-related deaths in the FCT and indeed the country.

    “While the cost of treating kidney-related ailments especially transplants, is high, the FMC is adopting measures to address the dart of expertise in the area, the statement said.

    The medical director of the FMC, Prof. Saad Ahmed, said that the move was preparatory to the commencement of kidney transplants in the FCT.

    Prof. Saad Ahmed, while addressing Dr Aniede and his team, charged them to work as a team with full dedication and commitment expected to usher in successful commencement of kidney transplant procedures in the facility.

    He presented the committee members their official letters urged them to give the deserved attention to the assignment.
