    Woman Among Five Arrested for Selling Stolen Tricycles in Bauchi*

    The Bauchi Police Command has apprehended five individuals involved in criminal conspiracy and the receipt of stolen property, including a woman accused of selling stolen tricycles.

    During a press briefing on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil, representing Commissioner of Police Auwal Mohammed, outlined the details of the arrests. Maryam Ibrahim, 30, is among those detained. She is accused of receiving stolen tricycles from Kano State and selling them in Bauchi State.

    The other suspects include:
    – Adamu Sale, 30
    – Umar Ibrahim, 31
    – Nasiru Usman, 29
    – Nasiru Musa Umar, 27

    Investigations revealed that Ibrahim sold approximately seven stolen tricycles, commonly referred to as Keke Napep, within Bauchi.

    The arrests were made based on credible intelligence and thorough work by the State Intelligence Department of the Bauchi State Police Command. The police recovered seven tricycles during the operation.

    Wakil emphasized that receiving stolen property is a serious crime under Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria, with penalties of up to fourteen years in prison. He also commended the community’s cooperation, which played a key role in the success of the operation.
