Obi, Sowore Should Contest N’Assembly Seats, Not Presidency – Gbenga Adeyinka

Nigerian comedian and entertainment guru Gbenga Adeyinka has suggested that young presidential candidates from the 2023 election should instead seek seats in the Senate and House of Representatives.

Adeyinka advised Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress, Kingsley Moghalu, and other young aspirants to aim for the National Assembly to contribute to legislative reforms.

In a podcast published by TheCable over the weekend, Adeyinka remarked that no president would act recklessly with influential figures like Obi, Sowore, and Fela Durotoye in the Senate.

He emphasized the importance of starting political careers at the grassroots level, noting that politics operates on a bottom-up structure. “There are professional politicians who dominate the field. Simply deciding to run for president is not enough; it requires significant political support and structure,” Adeyinka said.

He continued, “When I see candidates like Sowore, Fela Durotoye, Peter Obi, and the highly intelligent Kingsley Moghalu aiming for the presidency, I believe it would be more impactful for them to join the House of Representatives or the Senate to help reform our laws.”

Adeyinka added, “If Peter Obi were to become president with the existing political structure, his ability to effect change would be severely limited.”
