Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is set to visit Nigeria this week as part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to support Africa’s development. Gates will engage with national and local leaders, partners, and innovators to discuss advancements in health, innovation, and nutrition across the continent.

During his visit, Gates will meet with experts in primary health care, agriculture, and nutrition, focusing on addressing Africa’s challenges despite economic hurdles. The visit will include participation in a pan-African virtual dialogue on combating malnutrition through integrated health, agriculture, and financing solutions. Musician, educator, and humanitarian Jon Batiste will join Gates in this dialogue.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, since its inception in 2000, has committed over $7 billion through 2026 to support African countries in tackling hunger, disease, gender inequality, and poverty. The foundation collaborates with African governments, the private sector, non-profit organizations, and civil society to enhance health outcomes, boost agricultural productivity, expand digital financial services, and empower marginalized populations.

The foundation’s approach emphasizes that solutions to Africa’s challenges can emerge from within the continent, supporting local partners with innovative ideas and strategies to drive progress and improve lives.
