The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old self-proclaimed native doctor in connection with the death of a client. The incident, which occurred in Onumu Community, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, on August 20, involved the native doctor testing a bulletproof charm on the deceased client.

According to SP Moses Yamu, the Police Command spokesman, the victim, Alex Ezekiel, sought the native doctor’s services for a charm intended to protect against gunshots. In an attempt to demonstrate the charm’s effectiveness, the native doctor shot Ezekiel, resulting in fatal injuries. The victim was rushed to Ifejola Hospital in Igarra, where he was pronounced dead.

The native doctor is currently in custody and will face prosecution once the investigation is completed. The incident highlights the dangers of seeking unverified and potentially hazardous traditional remedies.
