    Nasarawa Assembly Appoints Six Pioneer Deputy Clerks

    The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has appointed six individuals as its inaugural Deputy Clerks, who will also serve as Permanent Secretaries.

    Speaker of the House, Mr. Danladi Jatau, emphasized the importance of discipline and dedicated service from the new appointees to ensure effective productivity and service delivery within the state’s legislative body.

    During a thank-you visit by the newly appointed Deputy Clerks, Jatau assured them of improved welfare conditions to support their productivity. He highlighted the significance of being exemplary representatives of the House and reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to staff welfare.

    The Speaker also expressed gratitude to Governor Abdullahi Sule for his ongoing support and cooperation, pledging continued collaboration between the legislative and executive branches of the government.

    Mr. Ibrahim Musa, the Acting Clerk of the House, spoke on behalf of the newly appointed Deputy Clerks, expressing thanks for their promotion from Directors to Permanent Secretaries. Musa assured the Speaker of their steadfast loyalty and commitment to the Assembly’s success and prayed for divine guidance for the Speaker in his leadership role.

    These appointments follow the enactment of the “Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission Re-enactment Law 2023,” which took effect on August 20, 2023. The law stipulates the establishment of at least seven Deputy Clerk/Permanent Secretary positions within the House.

    The new Deputy Clerks will have the same status, remuneration, and conditions of service as other Permanent Secretaries in the State Civil Service, both during their tenure and in retirement.

    The appointees are:

    – Ibraheem Musa – Legislative Services
    – Alkali Haruna – Finance and Accounts
    – Barrister Obiri Uji – Legal Services
    – Hadiza Musa Bako – Administration and Supplies
    – Mrs. Rosia Kumbugu – Publications and Information
    – Mr. Owens Kpadji – Planning, Research, and Statistics
