Ngozi Nwosu: Infidelity Isn’t a Dealbreaker, but Domestic Abuse

Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has recently shared her perspective on relationships, emphasizing that while infidelity might not be a sufficient reason to end a relationship, domestic abuse is a clear red flag. Nwosu’s comments come from her personal experiences and views on what constitutes acceptable behavior in a relationship.

In an appearance on the Talk to B podcast hosted by Abiola Akinrinde, Nwosu recounted a significant moment in her life when she had to call off a wedding just one day before the ceremony due to physical abuse by her then-fiancé. She shared, “I had to choose between my profession and marrying a guy, and I chose my job. He gave me an option, and I chose my job. At one point, I regretted that decision, but after that, I was like, ‘Oh wow, thank God I chose my path.’”

Nwosu emphasized that while she does not consider infidelity a dealbreaker, physical violence is a different matter altogether. She strongly advises women to leave any relationship where they face physical abuse. “For me, infidelity isn’t enough for you to let go of your man. But, if it’s battery, I advise any woman to, in fact, not take any of their property and run for your life because they will never stop. Once a man lifts his hand on you, he won’t stop,” Nwosu asserted.

Reflecting on her own experience, Nwosu revealed, “I called off my wedding two days before because that day, he gave me a beating of my life. I was pregnant then, and I was like, is this what I’m entering? Because he has never done it before.” She underscores that domestic abuse is an immediate and non-negotiable reason to end a relationship, contrasting with her views on infidelity.
