In a tragic turn of events, Malam Mohammed, the father of 18-year-old Ismail Mohammed, has accused Nigerian soldiers of fatally shooting his son at their home in Samaru, Zaria. According to Mohammed, soldiers followed his son to their residence on August 6, 2024, and shot him through the door.
Mohammed’s allegations come amidst an ongoing investigation by the Nigerian Army into the incident. The Army has confirmed that Ismail Mohammed was killed during a confrontation with troops deployed to manage unrest in the area. The Army has stated that the shooting occurred when soldiers were responding to hostile actions from protesters.
In a recent address, Maj-Gen Lander Saraso, who led a military delegation to the bereaved family, extended condolences and pledged a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Army has assured that the matter will be thoroughly examined to ensure accountability and justice.
