    Hon
Target Segibo, Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area (LGA) of Bayelsa on Sunday pledged to stop the looming violence in the area.

Segibo, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Dr Ayibatari Easterday, expressed deep concern over a looming crisis in Amassoma Community in the Council Area.

He noted that the crisis which is suspected to have emanated from the intentions of two major factions to produce the next Amananaowei of the Amassoma is tearing the community apart.

Segibo reiterated that his administration is poised at all times to ensure that peace prevails in the area.

He therefore called on all parties involved in the lingering crisis to sheath their swords and cancel all proposed meetings scheduled for Sunday or any other day at the Amassoma Town Hall forthwith.

He assured that government in collaboration with security agencies have commenced meaningful processes aimed at resolving the looming crisis and for lasting peace to prevail in Amassoma Community.

Segibo reminded the parties that no meaningful development can thrive in any environment engulfed in crisis, and called on the people of Amassoma in particular and Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in general to always live in peace and harmony.

He called on security agencies in the area to leave no stone unturned by acting proactively to avert every possible loss of lives and destruction of public and private properties in the community.
