CIYPC Condemns PND’s “Malicious” Attack on Okaba’s Endorsement of Otuaro

    Published on

The Coalition of Ijaw Youths for Positive Change (CIYPC) has vehemently condemned the Project Niger Delta (PND) for its “unfounded” and “malicious” allegations against Professor Benjamin Okaba, President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), and Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

In a strongly-worded statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Seigha Kikle Clarkson, the CIYPC described PND’s action as “a blatant attempt to smear the reputation of two respected leaders in the Niger Delta region”.

The coalition rebutted PND’s claims, stating that Professor Okaba acted within his constitutional powers in endorsing Dr. Otuaro, and that the allegations of nepotism and betrayal of public trust are “baseless” and “malicious.”

“The INC President’s endorsement of Dr. Otuaro was a testament to his capabilities and commitment to the Niger Delta region, “the statement said. “It is unfortunate that PND has chosen to resort to unfounded allegations and personal attacks rather than engaging in constructive dialogue.”

The CIYPC also criticized PND’s demand that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should ignore Professor Okaba’s endorsement, describing it as “misplaced” and “disrespectful”.

“We urge PND to retract their statement and apologize for the harm caused to Professor Okaba and Dr. Otuaro’s reputation, “the statement said. “We also call on all stakeholders to work towards the collective progress and development of the Niger Delta region.”

The coalition emphasized that the region needs “constructive dialogue and collaboration, not divisive rhetoric and personal vendettas.”

In conclusion, the CIYPC reiterated its commitment to promoting truth, fairness, and collaboration in the Niger Delta region and urged all stakeholders to work towards the collective emancipation of the Ijaw people.
