Manchester United’s new signing, Leny Yoro, has revealed his decision to join the Premier League club was influenced by their clear development plan for his football career.

The 18-year-old defender was initially considering a move to Real Madrid, who were reportedly interested in signing him after his contract with Lille expired next summer. However, with no formal offer from the Spanish giants, Yoro opted for Manchester United, who paid £52 million upfront and £6.5 million in add-ons for his transfer.

Yoro expressed that the concern Manchester United showed for him and his family played a significant role in his decision. “Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honor,” he said on United’s official website. “Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and showed a lot of care for me and my family.”

This move makes Yoro Manchester United’s second major signing this summer, following Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. The club is also pursuing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, with whom they have already agreed on personal terms.
