    Agip confirms leak from Ogboinbiri-Tebidada pipeline, probes cause

    Eni, the parent company to Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) says the leak from Ogboinbiri-Tebidada pipeline at its Nigerian operations is being investigated.

    Confirming the oil spill incident, a statement by a spokesperson on behalf management of Eni on Friday said an investigation was underway.

    Although the community traced the oil spill to a ruptured pipeline, the oil company said that a joint investigation visit to the incident site will ascertain the cause of the oil leakage.

    “Joint investigation visits with representatives of the authorities and of the communities are ongoing, to ascertain the facts and agree on the way forward” Eni stated.

    The people of Olugboboro community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa have written to Bayelsa government to intervene.

    According to the Olugboboro community letter, the spill occured about two months ago along Ogboinbiri/Tebitada pipeline when the pipeline ruptured which has been attributed to equipment failure.

    The community called for relief materials and compensation to the community to ameliorate their suffering,”
