    Foundation urges Kogi girls to embrace ICT skill

    The Heritage and Legacy foundation,has urged girls in Kogi state to embrace information technology to enable them function properly in leadership position in whatever sector they found themselves in future.

    The founder of the foundation, Hassan Abdul stated this on Saturday at the 2024 edition of Kogi ‘Girltech’ event,an annual “Girls in ICT commemorative event.

    “The event was put together to explore ways of honing the potential of young women of Kogi state in the ICT sector to foster a future where their leadership in the sector will be felt”. Said Abdul.

    According to him,” the Heritage Foundation is a non profit organization dedicated to unlocking the potential of young Nigerians. Our mission is centered upon empowerment and leadership development among our young people”

    He said that the the vision of the foundation also include breeding future leaders that would serve as role model for the next generation.

    “Our vision is to cultivate Civic du6 and social responsibility educate and nuture future leaders and envision a thriving Nigeria where every young Nigerian has an equal place”.

    He said that empowering women in ICT sector is not just a matter of gender equality,it is a crucial driver of economic and social development for Kogi state and beyond adding that ICT is now a major driver of innovation in sectors such as agriculture, tourism and hospitality, healthcare and construction.

    He noted that Kogi’s highly intelligent workforce can gain a significant advantage with more emphasis placed on the adoption and utilisation of ICT skills.

    In a keynote address,Folusho Owoeye urged young girls present not to underate their potentials to attain greater heights.

    Owoeye, former coordinator, Kigi women in ICT said “know yourself,know your worth,set Clear goals as to where you want to be in 5,10,15 or 20 years time, develop growth mindset and develop spirit of I can do it” .
