The Kano State government has responded to the recent flag hoisting at Nassarawa Palace, the residence of Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, dismissing it as a desperate attempt to attract public attention.

Amidst the ongoing royal tussle in the state between Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi II over the Kano Emirate throne, the flag, symbolizing authority and the Emir’s presence, was observed raised at 6 a.m. at the Nassarawa Palace.

Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to the state governor, criticized the action as a “useless attempt to gain cheap publicity.” He affirmed Muhammadu Sanusi II as the legitimate Emir of Kano, asserting no confusion or doubt regarding his status.

Interestingly, the same flag protocol is followed at Gidan Rumfa Palace, the residence of Muhammadu Sanusi II, highlighting the ongoing tension and competition for authority within the Kano Emirate.
