Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport has announced different alternative routes to ease traffic congestion as construction works begin on the Post Office-Emir- Road-Isale Oja Roads.
The construction work, which had earlier been approved by the cabinet, is part of the urban renewal projects of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, according to a statement by Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, Commissioner for Works and Transport.
He said: “We advise that commuters make use of alternative routes in Taiwo Isale, Edun, Obo Road, Niger Road, Opomalu, Centre Igboro, Balogun Fulani, and Bolanta Roads to connect other parts of the Ilorin metropolis while the re-construction is ongoing.
“To effect the smooth commencement of re-construction on these roads, we also advise residents to remove all vehicles on both sides of the construction routes.
“While we acknowledge the inconveniences that commuters and residents may experience during the reconstruction of these roads, we seek cooperation and patience as the government builds a resilient infrastructure and lasting legacy for our beloved State.
“We appreciate His Excellency for committing to building safer, smoother, and more beautiful roads that will grow our state’s economy.”
It would be recalled that the dual carriageway on the Emir’s Road was started by the Adamu Attah administration and was completed by Group Captain Salaudeen Adebola Olatinwo, and this is the first major reconstruction work on the road since the Latinwo years.
