Buba Galadima, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has strongly criticized the push for state police and regional government in Nigeria. , this debate could significantly reshape the country’s political framework.

In a Monday night interview , Galadima expressed his opposition, arguing that proponents of these changes are ignorant of the historical reasons behind the abolition of state police and regional governance. He labeled these advocates as enemies of Nigeria, claiming they aim to divide the country and undermine democracy.

“Anywhere I go in Nigeria, the constitution says I am free to reside, conduct business, move freely, and own property. Is that the reality across the country? The absence of strong leadership has led to discussions about state police and regional government,” Galadima stated.

He continued, “Those calling for state police do not understand its history. Anyone advocating for state police is attempting to divide the country and destroy democracy. Imagine if Fubara controlled state police and Wike tried to enter Rivers State.”

Galadima also warned the National Assembly against entertaining regionalism and state police proposals, suggesting that such actions could lead to the disintegration of the country and the return of military rule.
