The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have suspended their indefinite nationwide strike. This decision allows for uninterrupted discussions with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.
The suspension followed a meeting convened by the Federal Government through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
The discussions on labour demands will continue at the Tripartite Committee meeting, scheduled to take place daily for one week. President Bola Tinubu has assured workers of his commitment to implementing a minimum wage higher than the previously proposed ₦60,000.
