The Federal Government has approved the establishment of Eastwing Aviation Training Institute in the South-East, addressing the shortage of skilled professionals in the aviation sector. The institute has been listed under the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) after meeting the necessary technical evaluations.

This approval allows the institute to begin admitting students through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Graduates will receive national and higher national diplomas.

Dr. Christopher Edeh, founder and CEO of Eastwing Aviation, encouraged youths to seize this opportunity to pursue careers as pilots, aviation engineers, cabin crew, and other aviation roles. He emphasized that the institute aims to support and develop the dreams of aspiring aviation professionals, ensuring they have a path to follow post-graduation.

Dr. Edeh highlighted the significance of the approval, marking it as a major step toward his goal of giving back to society. He reflected on his journey from joining the Nigerian Air Force to realizing his dream of establishing the first aviation school in the South-East.

Achieving certification for the institute involved collaboration with former colleagues, underscoring the communal effort, referred to as ‘Wazobia’.

In addition to the institute, Eastwing Aviation has launched a non-governmental organization to support talented but financially disadvantaged youths in pursuing their aviation aspirations. Dr. Edeh expressed optimism about the increased interest this initiative will generate, noting that the aviation sector, often perceived as complex, is now more accessible.

He shared an inspiring story of a former security personnel who, with encouragement and support, advanced to become an aircraft maintenance engineer, exemplifying the potential for growth and success within the aviation industry.
