The anticipated inauguration of the Abuja Rail Mass Transit, initially scheduled for May 27th, has been rescheduled to May 29th, 2024. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) made this announcement through Anthony Ogunleye, the spokesperson for FCT minister Nyesom Wike, in a statement released on Thursday.

The statement clarified that President Bola Tinubu would officiate the inauguration at 1:00 p.m. on May 29th, coinciding with events marking his one-year tenure in office.

In tandem with this development, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), disclosed plans by the federal government to provide Nigerians with two months of complimentary rides on the Abuja light rail service.

Addressing reporters on Thursday in Abuja during a ministerial press briefing reviewing President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s one-year performance, Wike revealed that the Abuja light rail would be inaugurated by the President. He further stated that the free rides would commence following the inauguration.

Wike emphasized that this initiative is part of President Tinubu’s commitment to uplifting the residents of the FCT and its environs through his renewed hope agenda.
