Northern Congress for Change Disavows Babachir Lawal’s Anti-Tinubu Comments

Prominent figures from northern Nigeria have distanced themselves from statements attributed to former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal regarding President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The Northern Congress for Change (NCC) clarified that Lawal does not represent the interests of the north and labeled his remarks as baseless and unfounded.

Addressing the media in Abuja, Dr. Ben Amodu, the convener of the NCC, asserted that President Tinubu’s administration has surpassed expectations within a short time frame, surpassing the achievements of his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari. Amodu highlighted the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, effectively managing Nigeria’s diverse social, political, and religious dynamics.

The group attributed criticisms of President Tinubu to corrupt individuals seeking to undermine his administration, dismissing their opposition as insignificant in the face of progress. They commended President Tinubu’s economic policies, noting increased foreign investment, enhanced local production, and job creation across various sectors.

In praising the leadership of NNPC Limited’s Group CEO, Mr. Mele Kyari, the NCC acknowledged his transformative efforts in revitalizing the oil sector, contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth.

The NCC denounced Babachir Lawal’s comments as misguided and hypocritical, citing his involvement in the grass-cutting scandal and his failed support for Peter Obi. Lawal’s tarnished reputation and lack of moral authority render his criticisms irrelevant, according to the NCC.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by transformative leadership, the NCC urged Nigerians to focus on the tangible progress under President Tinubu’s visionary leadership, dismissing Lawal’s assertions as distractions from the administration’s achievements.

In conclusion, the NCC encouraged Nigerians to disregard Lawal’s remarks and instead concentrate on the significant strides being made under President Tinubu’s leadership. They emphasized the importance of scrutinizing Lawal’s statements in light of his controversial past, urging citizens to support the administration’s efforts toward national development and prosperity.
