Tottenham Hotspur, the 2019 UEFA Champions League finalists, have entered the race alongside Inter Milan to secure the services of 17-year-old Royal Antwerp striker, George Osrzehmen Ilenikhena, in their quest for a potential successor to Harry Kane, according to Soccernet.ng.
With their current struggles in the English Premier League, where they sit fifth and have faced four consecutive losses, Tottenham seeks to bolster their attacking prowess. Despite Son Heung-Min leading their scoring charts with 17 goals, there’s a noticeable gap in goal contributions beyond him, emphasizing the need for a reliable finisher akin to their former talisman, Harry Kane.
Reportedly, Spurs have set their sights on George Ilenikhena, with Royal Antwerp placing a €20 million valuation on the talented teenager. The Belgian side, facing financial constraints, may entertain offers for the Nigerian prospect, who has garnered attention with his performances, contributing to 15 goals in 48 appearances since joining from Amiens SC last summer.
While Inter Milan has also expressed interest in Ilenikhena, Tottenham views him as a potential solution to their striking concerns. However, should negotiations with Royal Antwerp falter, Spurs have identified an alternative in Spanish-Nigerian striker Sam Omorodion.
As both clubs vie for the promising youngster’s signature, the pursuit of George Ilenikhena underscores Tottenham’s ambition to secure a prolific goal-scorer to fill the void left by Harry Kane’s departure.
