Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), as reported by ABN TV.

The former lawmaker received his APC membership card from the State Chairman of the Party in Abia, Kingsley Ononogbu, in an official ceremony on Tuesday.

Chinedum Orji, the son of former Abia State governor Theodore Orji, had tendered his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday.

Explaining his decision to close supporters on Monday night, the ex-speaker cited pressing issues within the party as the primary motivation for his move.

Orji’s defection marks a significant development in Abia State politics and underscores the shifting dynamics within the state’s political landscape. As he aligns himself with the APC, his actions may potentially influence political trajectories and strategies in the region.
