    PremiumTrust Bank has reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing athletes and fostering sports development in Nigeria with its sponsorship of the inaugural PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon. The event underscores the bank’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community enrichment.

    Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, the MD/CEO of PremiumTrust Bank, emphasized the bank’s role as the headline sponsor, pledging support for athletes to realize their potential. He stated, “At PremiumTrust Bank, we aim to create an enabling environment for athletes to showcase their talents globally. The Abuja City International Half Marathon provided a platform to foster community spirit, encourage youth engagement in competitive sports, and empower young athletes to excel.”

    The marathon attracted elite athletes worldwide, promoting recognition and excellence. PremiumTrust Bank’s sponsorship highlights its promotion of health, wellness, and healthy competition, crucial for societal well-being.

    Dignitaries, including Sen. Dr. George Akume, CON, lauded PremiumTrust Bank’s impactful initiative, urging other corporate entities to support youth empowerment and sports development in Nigeria.

    The event witnessed outstanding performances, with Shadrack Ngumbau of Kenya claiming the top spot in the 21km race and receiving a $5,000 prize. Francis James, a 17-year-old from Plateau State, emerged as the indigenous winner, securing $3,000 and N1 million. In the women’s category, Gaspore Atalena from South Sudan clinched victory and a $5,000 prize.

    PremiumTrust Bank’s commitment extends beyond sponsorship to active athlete empowerment, setting a standard for corporate entities in Nigeria. Through initiatives like the Abuja City Half Marathon, the bank emphasizes its dedication to excellence, positive societal impact, and sports development nationally and internationally.
