    Insecurity: NSCDC commissions new Divisional Office in Kwara community

    In a bid to confront headlong the mounting security challenges, including violence and other social vices pervading various communities in Kwara state, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Umar J. G. Mohammed (PhD) has commissioned a new divisional office in Ipee community, Oyun Local Government Area.

    While unveiling the new division, the Commandant explained that the recent upsurge in security challenges in the state necessitated the upgrading of the outpost to a fully operational divisional office to address issues of insecurity more effectively.

    He said: “The establishment of the division will no doubt improve our operational efficiency, thereby reducing possible threats to our peaceful coexistence.

    “I commend the contributions of the project’s financier, Honorable Olayiwola Oyebode, Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, and the dedicated residents of Ipee community for their unwavering commitment and support towards ensuring the timely completion of this remarkable project.

    “I want to assure you all that the efforts of these people would not go unnoticed, as the security and well-being of the people of Ipee community would continue to be of utmost importance to the Corps. I
    pledge to continue to work tirelessly to address security challenges within and around the Ipee community, while ensuring a safer and more secured environment for all residents.”

    Commandant Umar, however, urged members of the community to remain vigilant and actively support the Corps by providing credible and timely information to enhance the Corps operational capacity, stressing that security is a collective responsibility of all and sundry.

    ‘I encourage everyone to play their part in keeping their community safe. By working together and sharing information promptly, we can effectively address security challenges and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents”, he added.

    In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Olayiwola Oyebode, lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s efforts towards reducing crime and criminality to the barest minimum in the state, while also appreciating the Commandant for his cooperation and efforts in ensuring the protection of lives and property in the community and the state at large, urging the Commandant to deploy additional personnel in the new division to bolster safety and security measures in the area

    Also speaking, the Onipe of Ipee, Oba Lawal Mufutau Adebayo Titiloye, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Corps for its steadfastness and dedication towards ensuring the safety of the community, stressing the significance of the Corps continued support in upholding peace and security within the community.
