    Elected LGC Chairmen receive Certificate of Return.

    Chairmen and Vice Chairmen-elect of the eight Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Bayelsa on Monday received their certificates of return from the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC).

    The ceremony took place at the Ernest Ikoli Press Center of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat in Yenagoa.

     

    BYSIEC Chairman, Dr Peter Singabele congratulated the elected Council officials for their victory at the polls.

    Election into the Local Government Councils in Bayelsa took place on April 6 with the Peoples Democratic Party winning in all eight Chairmanship 105 seats.

    Supporters of the elected eight Councils Chairmen and Vice Chairmen in Bayelsa thronged the State NUJ Secretariat in Yenagoa as they were issued certificate of returns following their victory at the polls.

    Presenting the certificate of return, Singabele comended the elected officials over their success in the election, urging them to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

    In a response on behalf of other elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Council, Mr. Bulodisiye Ndiwari thanked Gov Douye Diri and the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and other stakeholders and supporters for their support.

    He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them by improving the quality of lives of the people in the various founcil areas.

    Other elected Chairmen present at the ceremony were Lucky Febo for Brass Local Government Area, Golden Jeremiah for Ogbia, Chief David Alagoa for Nembe and Target Segibo for Southern Ijaw.

    Others were Lelei Tariye Isaac for Kolokuma/Opokuma, Onniye Isaac, for Ekeremor, and Mrs. Alice Allen-Tangi, the only elected woman for Sagbama.

    Elected Councillors for 105 wards will be sworn in on Tuesday across the eight Local Councils.
