The People’s Democratic Party PDP in Kogi State has condemned the gruesome killing of 25 innocent people in Agojeju-Odo in Omala Local Government of the State, describing it as barbaric, satanic, cruel and unacceptable in a sane society.
The PDP in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Sen. Danjuma La’ah and Secretary, Sen. Philip Gyunka on Tuesday commiserated with families of the affected victims, noting that perpetuator of the dastardly act must be fished out no matters how they are higher connected in the Society.
“The killings in Agojeju–Odo in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State is one too many. How can innocent lives be taken away by some cruel individuals who are known for causing havoc in the society? Our sympathy are with the families of those who lost their lives in that attack. We the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) are with them in this their trying period.
The party noted that though the occurrence was a reflection of the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, it however counselled the state government to ensure that those behind the heinous crime were brought to book.
“This level of barbarism and extremely cruel acts only reflects how insecure our environment has been. It unearths how insecurity has continued to ravage many parts of the country, taking innocent lives and killing the economy,”
“There have been records of kidnapping, armed robbery across the three Senatorial district. The world is aware of the kidnap of a Chinese engineer and the killing of a Civil Defence officer at Obagende in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The party encouraged the state government to as a matter of urgency rise up to its responsibility by prioritizing the safety and well-being of the people of the State.
“We can’t continue to lose the lives of our people because the Government has failed in their responsibility of providing adequate security for the people they are governing. Our party is appealing to the Kogi State Government to wake up from their slumber to nip in the bud the security challenges bedevilling Kogi State”
The party called on security agencies to ensure that those behind the attack are not just arrested, but be made to face the full wrath of the law.
