    Edo PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, Freed from Captivity

    Tony Aziegbemi, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state, has regained his freedom after being abducted by a group of armed men near his residence in Benin City.

    Aziegbemi was released by his captors in the early hours of Tuesday, March 26, 2024, and returned safely to his home in Benin City around 3 a.m.

    The news of his release was confirmed by Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser for Media Projects to the Edo State Governor, in a telephone conversation with Channels Television.

    Aziegbemi, a former member of the House of Representatives representing the Esan North-East/Esan South-East federal constituency of Edo State, was reportedly abducted by gunmen who trailed him in two Toyota Corolla cars on the night of Friday, March 16, 2024.

    The abduction took place when the gunmen intercepted Aziegbemi’s sports utility vehicle (SUV) along Osaro Street around 11 p.m. that night.
