As the Super Eagles of Nigeria gear up to face off against the Black Stars of Ghana in an eagerly awaited international friendly at the Stade de Marrakech Stadium, the spotlight falls on key players who could potentially shape the outcome of the match. Here are five players to keep an eye on in the upcoming “Jollof Derby”:

    1. Stanley Nwabali:
The Chippa United goalkeeper showcased his prowess at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with an impressive tally of four clean sheets out of seven games. Regarded as a strong contender for the number one goalkeeper position, Nwabali’s agility and shot-stopping abilities make him a vital asset for the Super Eagles.

    2. Nathan Tella:
Despite missing out on the AFCON campaign, the Bayer Leverkusen forward has been in fine form at the club level. With his pace and technical skills, Tella poses a significant threat to the Ghanaian defense. Given the opportunity, he could make a significant impact on the outcome of the match.

    3. Wilfred Ndidi:
The Leicester City midfielder’s absence was felt in the Super Eagles’ midfield during the AFCON. Known for his exceptional vision and defensive prowess, Ndidi’s return from injury adds depth to the Nigerian squad. His ability to control the midfield and initiate attacking moves could be instrumental against Ghana.

    4. Cyriel Dessers:
The Rangers FC forward will be eager to make his mark for the Super Eagles after a hiatus from international football. With an impressive goal-scoring record at the club level, Dessers brings a hunger for goals to the Nigerian attack. His agility and goal-scoring instincts make him a potent threat in front of goal.

    5. Alex Iwobi:
Subject to criticism following Nigeria’s loss in the 2023 AFCON final, the Super Eagles star will be keen to redeem himself against Ghana. Despite playing out of position in the previous tournament, Iwobi possesses the skill and creativity to unlock defenses. Against Ghana, he’ll be determined to showcase his true potential and contribute to Nigeria’s success.

As the ‘Jollof Derby’ unfolds, the performances of these key players will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in determining the outcome of the clash between Nigeria and Ghana.
