    CSOs Rally Behind Akpabio, Urge Senate Unity Amid Ningi Suspension Dispute

    A coalition of civil society organizations has stepped forward to support Senate President Godswill Akpabio amidst criticism directed at him, asserting that such attacks undermine the credibility of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The coalition stands behind the decision to suspend Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, citing it as essential for maintaining order and discipline within the Senate.

    Comprising Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN), Guardians of Democracy and Development (GODD), and Partners for a Legislative Agenda for Nigeria (PLAN), these CSOs are urging Senators to prioritize national development over regional interests.

    The coalition’s statement comes in response to reports of protests from Northern interest groups over Ningi’s suspension. They caution against divisive elements within the Senate and advocate for unity within the legislative body and across the nation.

    Regarding Ningi’s allegations of budget padding, the coalition questions his motives and condemns his actions as an attempt to discredit both the Senate President and the government. They emphasize the importance of following established Senate procedures for addressing grievances.

    In conclusion, the coalition calls on Nigerians to throw their support behind President Tinubu’s administration and the Senate as they endeavor to restore prosperity and economic recovery.
