In a recent development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) submitted additional evidence against MICAD Project City Services Limited and James Nolan, a Director of Process and Industrial Development Limited. This presentation took place before Justice Nora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, as disclosed in a statement by EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.

The criminal case revolves around the contentious Gas Supply Processing Agreement between Process and Industrial Development and the Federal Government of Nigeria. P&ID had initially secured an $11 billion award against the Federal Government, but the tide turned in favor of Nigeria last October when a London arbitration court nullified the award, citing fraudulent practices in securing the contract.

In February, the International Criminal Police Organisation announced the arrest of James Nolan in Italy, following his evasion of bail in Nigeria in 2022, amid the ongoing $9.6 billion P&ID scandal.

During the recent court session, prosecution counsel Bala Sanga informed the court about the filing of additional evidence on February 20, 2024. Defense counsel Micheal Ajara acknowledged receipt of the evidence. The third prosecution witness, Nnedimma Eyisi, a lawyer, then detailed to the court how James Nolan expressed the need to renew himself as the Director of MICAD.
