    Two trapped, scores injured in Onitsha 5-storey building collapse

    An uncompleted five-storey building reportedly collapsed early hours of Sunday in Fegge, Onitsha, Anambra State.

    Two persons working on the building were said to be trapped in the rubble, while scores were injured in the building located at Basden street.

    National Star gathered that excavators are working at the scene to rescue the trapped persons dead or alive.

    Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Orji, is on hand, directing how to rescue the trapped people.

    According to a resident of the area who pleaded anonymity, “The building started from the 5th floor to collapse. The building is at the finishing touches and the 5th floor was almost finished when it collapsed and other floors followed.

    “They are up to two workers in the building that are trapped with scores injured and have been rushed to undisclosed hospitals.”

    As at the time of filing this report, efforts were on by both security personnel and sympathizers towards rescuing the trapped persons.
