In response to the relentless bandit attacks plaguing their communities, residents of Goningora in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have taken a stand by blocking the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
The demonstration, which unfolded on Thursday, was sparked by a recent attack on the night of Wednesday, February 28th, 2024. During this assault, numerous community members were abducted, and several others sustained injuries. Tragically, two individuals, including a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force, lost their lives.
Enraged by these events, the residents poured onto the streets on Thursday morning, effectively halting traffic on the bustling Abuja-Kaduna highway. This blockade has caused significant congestion, leaving countless motorists stranded.
This recent attack on the Goningora community comes merely a week after the military reportedly eliminated a notorious bandit leader, Boderi Isyaku, along with several of his followers in the Chikun local government area. During the operation, the bandits allegedly set fire to a military armored vehicle as soldiers attempted to repel them.
