In a disturbing incident, a group of bandits has carried out a mass abduction of worshippers from a mosque in Tsafe town, located in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to a local resident identified only as Garba, the attack occurred at approximately 5 a.m. on Thursday, just as worshippers were preparing for their morning prayers. The bandits forcefully entered the mosque, compelling those inside to follow them.

Garba recounted the harrowing experience, stating that amidst the chaos, he managed to escape through a window and seek refuge in an unfinished building nearby. The bandits, employing a strategy to conceal their approach, had left their motorcycles outside the town to avoid detection.

It was reported that the mosque was filled to capacity at the time of the attack, and only a few individuals were able to evade capture.

In response to the abduction, community leaders, speaking anonymously, revealed that efforts are underway to locate and rescue the kidnapped worshippers. The Community Protection Guards have been mobilized to track down the bandits and secure the safe return of the victims.

Tsafe Local Government has been grappling with escalating banditry, with the Tsafe-Gusau Road particularly notorious for frequent kidnappings. Recent clashes between rival bandit factions in the area have further compounded the security challenges, resulting in casualties among the criminal elements involved.
