    Police arraign 2 over allege conspiracy to kidnap Gov. Diri’s brother

    The Bayelsa State Police Command has arraigned two persons in court over their alleged conspiracy and attempt to kidnap Mr. Ebi Ayama.

    Ayama popularly known as Americana is a brother to Gov Douye Diri of Bayelsa.

    The two suspects, identified as Lucky Oghenebrume,53 years old and Omobowho Okpowodo,52 years old.

    According to the Police the duo were arrested by men of the Operation Puff Adder unit in November, 2023 at Mbiama community in Rivers.

    The police said the arrest of the two suspects was possible through intelligence gathering and detailed investigations.

    The two suspects, who pleaded not guilty and were arraigned at the Kaima High Court sitting in Yenagoa with suit numbered BYH/KHC/CR/2/2024.

    Police prosecutor told the court that Lucky Oghenebrume, 53 years old was the mastermind and on the wanted list of the State Police Command over the alleged involvement in the abduction of one Fyneman in Sagbama Local Government area of the state where a ransom of N50 million was paid.

    Oghenebrume was also described as a resident of Mbiama community and residing alone in a massive compound where he allegedly carried out the dastardly act.

    He was also said to have relocated his family to Delta State to avoid being exposed.

    The Police Prosecutor said the second suspect, Omobowho Okpowodo, aged 52, was identified as the owner of the motor mechanic workshop where the targeted victim carries out repairs on his vehicles.

    Okpowodo, according to the police prosecution counsel, was allegedly over heard planning to abduct Ayama on his way from Ekeremor Local Government Area.

    The Presiding Judge, Justice T.Songi has adjourned the case until Feb. 27.

    Meanwhile, some residents of Yenagoa,the Bayelsa State capital have commended the digital innovation deployed by the State Police Command led by CP Alonyenu Francis Idu.

    They applauded the deployment of drones and other operational assets to tackle crime and threats to peace in Bayelsa.

    According Mr Jameson Peters, a residents of Opolo area, the proactive response to emergencies such as the recent communal clash in the area is commendable

    He said: “The coordination among security agencies showed that the present administration is disposed to peace and security of lives and properties”
