The Imo State Police Command has taken decisive action following the attack on a correctional service farm settlement in Umualomoke, Okigwe Local Government Area. A special tactical squad has been deployed to track down the hoodlums responsible for the assault, according to ASP Henry Okoye, the command’s spokesperson.
In the early hours of Monday, reports indicate that hoodlums raided the farm settlement and the residence of Senator Patrick Ndubeze. During the attack, seven inmates were forcibly released, and a correctional officer overseeing the settlement was abducted. Tragically, a police inspector lost his life in the incident.
Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has personally overseen the deployment of the special squad and visited the crime scenes for a firsthand assessment. The squad has been tasked with rescuing the abducted officer and apprehending the fleeing inmates.
ASP Henry Okoye urged the public to provide any relevant information to assist law enforcement in arresting the perpetrators. He emphasized the importance of cooperation from the community and provided a hotline, 08034773600, for individuals to share information that could aid in the officer’s rescue.
Despite the unsettling events, CP Danjuma assured the people of Imo State that the police command is fully committed to maintaining peace and security. He reassured residents that measures have been put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The statement concluded with CP Danjuma’s firm resolve to apprehend the culprits responsible for the attacks and ensure that justice is served.
