The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has sought to allay fears among Nigerians regarding a potential increase in the cost of petrol. In a statement issued on Wednesday by the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi O. Soneye, NNPC emphasized that there is no planned upward review of the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

The statement urged Nigerians to dismiss any “unfounded rumors” circulating about a possible fuel price hike. NNPC reassured the public that there are no intentions to increase the price of petrol and advised motorists nationwide against engaging in panic buying.

Furthermore, the NNPC spokesperson asserted that there is currently ample availability of PMS across the country, emphasizing that there is no need for panic in the fuel market.
