    Five Arrested for Illegal Possession of AK-47 Rifles in Katsina State

    The Police Command in Katsina State has announced the arrest of five individuals found in illegal possession of AK-47 rifles in Kurmi village, Bakori Local Government Area. ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the spokesperson for the command, provided details of the incident on Wednesday in Katsina.

    According to Sadiq-Aliyu, the arrest took place on December 19, 2023, based on credible intelligence. Operatives from the Bakori divisional police headquarters, in collaboration with members of the vigilante during patrol, successfully identified and apprehended the suspects.

    The arrested individuals are identified as Sharhabilu Dahiru (20 years old), Abubakar Tukur (25 years old), Kasamanu Abdullahi (20 years old), Abdulrahman Shu’aibu (20 years old), and Sulaiman Sanusi (20 years old), all hailing from Kakumi village, Bakori LGA.

    Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the AK-47 rifle from the residence of Jamilu Lawal in the same village. Lawal was subsequently invited for further investigation into the illegal possession of the firearm.

    All the suspects are currently in custody as the investigation proceeds. The police are taking the matter seriously due to the gravity of the crime, and further actions will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
