Dr. Solomon Arase, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and retired Inspector General of Police, has been honored with an award of excellence by the Alumni of the University of Ibadan. The award, presented by the President of the University’s Alumni, Prof. Gabriel Nyityo, was given to Dr. Arase in recognition of his distinguished achievements as an alumnus of the institution.
Due to his busy schedule, Dr. Arase was unable to attend the awards ceremony held last week in Lagos. As a result, the delegation from the University’s Alumni decided to present the award to him in his office today, November 27th, 2023. The President of the Alumni, accompanied by past presidents Prof Elsie Adewoye and Mr. Hyacinth Kyaagba, expressed their appreciation for Dr. Arase’s positive representation of the University.
Upon receiving the award, Dr. Arase expressed his humility and gratitude for the recognition, stating that the award holds special significance for him. He attributed his successful career path to the training he received in Strategic Studies, which fostered a fertile mind and critical skills.
In addition to accepting the award, Dr. Arase also voiced his hope that the government would prioritize stabilizing university education in Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of a stable academic calendar, which would enable parents to plan for their children’s education and allow universities to function effectively.
As a gesture of appreciation, Dr. Arase presented a book titled “Readings on Election Security Management,” which he had edited, to the visiting delegation.
The University of Ibadan Alumni’s recognition of Dr. Solomon Arase serves as a testament to his notable contributions and positive impact on society.
