The All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified the confusion surrounding the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Court of Appeal judgment on the Kano State governorship election. The party’s National Legal Adviser, Prof. Abdulkarim Kanna, dismissed the reports affirming Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as the duly elected governor of Kano, stating that it is a typographical error that will be corrected by the court.

Addressing the media at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Kanna explained that typographical errors are common in certified true copies of court judgments and are usually corrected. He emphasized that the controversy arose due to the political nature of the matter and reassured that the judgment delivered in open court by the three justices at the Court of Appeal confirmed the merits of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal’s decision.

Kanna acknowledged that typographical errors are not uncommon within the court system and affirmed that the party would formally request the Certified True Copy of the Appeal Court judgment. He urged the public to focus on the substance of the judgment, which upheld the decision of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in favor of the APC governorship candidate, Yusuf Gawuna.

In conclusion, Kanna assured that any errors in the reports would be rectified through the appropriate legal channels, emphasizing the importance of the judgment delivered in open court.
