    “Nine Bodies Recovered from Boat Accident in Niger State”

    The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) has reported the recovery of nine bodies from a boat accident that occurred in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state. The accident, which took place on Thursday, November 16, resulted in the confirmed death of 10 persons, primarily traders conveying goods.

    The victims were reportedly on their way from Zongoru Community of Bassa Ward to Gijiwa for the Friday market in Kuta, the headquarters of Shiroro LGA, when the tragic incident happened. A total of 34 individuals were believed to be on board, with 22 reportedly rescued by local divers.

    The Head of Relief and Rehabilitation at NSEMA, Alhaji Salihu Garba, mentioned that the agency had yet to identify two of the deceased persons. The search operation is ongoing to recover the remaining bodies from the accident.
