In a display of both unity and dissent, 33 out of 35 members of the Ondo State Executive Council signed a vote of confidence in Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. The statement, titled ‘We stand by our courageous principal and mentor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON. Governor, Ondo State,’ expressed unwavering trust in the governor’s leadership. However, two members, Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Razak Obe, and Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Cooperative Services, Mr. Akin Sowore, refrained from signing, citing lack of awareness and the belief that such votes do not hold significance. The divisions within the cabinet come amid the governor’s ongoing medical recuperation in Ibadan, fueling discussions and calls for his resignation by some quarters, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
