Egbira People ‘s Association (EPA) Congratulates Governor-elect Ahmed Ododo

    Published on

The Leadership of Ebira People’s Association (EPA) heartily felicitates with Egbira nation on the election of our son, Hon Ahmed Usman Ododo, as the next Executive Governor of Kogi State in the just concluded Kogi State gubernatorial election held on the 11th of November, 2023. The cherring news of this uncommon collective achievement excites jubilations as much as it ignites hope across the Ebira nation and beyond.

We use this medium to congratulate our brother, the Governor-elect, as well as all the sons and daughters of Egbira whose contributions and sacrifices facilitated this success in no small measure. EPA is proud of you all. No doubt, this has aptly demonstrated the power and beauty of unity in a heterogeneous society like Kogi State.

It is important to appreciate the government of Kogi State under the leadership of Alh Yahaya Bello, who provided the enabling environment for the peaceful conduct of the election and the subsequent victory of Alh. Usman Ododo. EPA also appreciates the crucial roles of Ebira political office holders who heeded our advice that they should work as a team to attain this success, deserving of collective celebration. We cannot but also commend the roles of our royal fathers in Kogi State whose fatherly guidance and stately posture saw to the unity of purpose and peace during the election.

It is regrettable that His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim CON, is not with us to witness this historic manifestation of the dividend of unity he had preached in the build-up to the election during his lifetime. May Allah comfort him in his grave. Ameen.

At this juncture, it is necessary for me to sound a note of caution to our brothers and sisters in or out of politics, both at home and in the diaspora, to exercise restraints, and be guided in our public utterances and actions at this material time. Essentially, we must acknowledge that this victory comes with responsibilities and expectations.

Therefore, we, whether as individuals or groups, must refrain from divisive utterances and conducts that could, in one way or the other, impinge the joy of the moment. Most importantly there is the need to devote ourselves to prayers for God’s guidance and protection for the governor-elect ahead of the onerous task of moving our dear state forward.

    Ohiku aa ku nini.

    Signed:
    Dr Godwin Oyibo
    President General
