As Imo goes aflame in celebration over Governor Hope Uzodimma’s record setting second term victory, key members of the State Campaign Council of the Samdaddy Governorship Campaign Organisation have confessed that the embarrassing outcome of this election was not unexpected, given the mishandling and apparent deceit of the governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

In chats intercepted from the campaign council WhatsApp platform, key members of the Party, including the Samdaddy appointed Acting State Women Leader, Campaign Council chairman for Isiala-Mbano and former House of Representatives member, Hon. Obinna Onwubuariri and others blamed the outcome of the election on Samdaddy’s deception and unpopularity.

Former House of Representatives member and youthful multimillionaire, Hon. Obinna Onwubuariri, concluded that the PDP candidate and his close body team, including, Myke Ikoku, etc, sold out.

In what might be a veiled threat of internal revolt within the PDP, the State Women Leader of the PDP, Lady Aguwamba, wrote; “Please, our leaders need to explain to us or face our wrath. We cannot risk our lives, political future, integrity, dignity, and we are just treated like kids.”

These reactions are not unconnected to Samdaddy’s treacherous handling of the campaign and his obvious unseriousness which led people like us to pull out early. The Amaimo born politician had all along deceived his scanty followers that he had the tacit endorsement of the Aso Rock villa, through his “closeness” with the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu. He also allegedly promised that former governor Nyesom Wike and key PDP governors had promised to dole out any amount of money required to unseat Governor Uzodimma. Coincidentally, on the eve of the election when financial logistics was to be distributed to Party leaders and grassroots canvassers, they were disappointed, as he could only give a paltry sum of 20,000 Naira to leaders who had been keeping vigil around him for days in anticipation of “election logistics”.

Samdaddy went into the election with the most divided political party structure anyone could deal with, as the main soul of the Party, His Excellency Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha was shoved aside by the former National Secretary who maneuvered his way to getting the governorship ticket against the wishes of more than 80% of the Party members.
