    Kogi poll: Political parties sign peace Accord ahead Saturday’s Election

    The Eighteen political parties participating in Saturday’s Governoship election in Kogi state on Wednesday singed peace accord in Lokoja.

    The peace accord was the initiative of Bishop Hassan Kukah and chaired by former head of State, General Abdusalami Abubarkar.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Cardinal John Onayekan emphasised the need for peaceful election as no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere of chaos in insecurities.

    “The exercise should be an honest and serious commitment by all candidate to ensure a peaceful election and peaceful coexistence even after the election might have be concluded”.

    Also present at the occasion was the state governor Alhaji Yayaha Bello who pleaged the commitment of his party All Progressive Congress,APC to a free,fair and credible Election that would start the test of time.

    “I stand before to today to emphasize the commitment of our party to peace before, during and after the election. I also want to assure you that APCinitiative,we in APC is going to abide by this and none of our members will be found wanting before, during and after the election”. Bello stated.

    According to him,”the New Direction administration under my watch have made the state too hot for criminals adding that anyone with criminal intention would be allowed even after the election”.
