Basketmouth, the renowned comedian and entertainer, continues his impressive track record of creating easily enjoyable music projects with his latest offering, ‘Uburu.’ Following the success of his debut album, ‘Yabasi,’ and his sophomore release, ‘Horoscopes,’ Basketmouth’s third project ‘Uburu’ once again showcases his ability to bring together exceptional talents under the guidance of Doktor Sett.

‘Uburu,’ which means “Brain” in Igbo, is a pop project that revolves around the theme of aspiring to lead a happy and enjoyable life. The album features a stellar lineup of artists who bring their best to the table.

From Perruzi’s quintessential Afrobeats tune to Falz’s storytelling prowess, and Boj and Duncan Mighty’s captivating Highlife collaboration, ‘Uburu’ is a testament to the remarkable efforts of the featured acts.

Notable highlights include Bayyani and Ghanaian Dancehall sensation Shatta Wale’s collaboration on ‘Goal Keeper,’ a vibrant record that sets the tone for the album’s intention – celebrating a good life. Perruzi’s exceptional songwriting and melody crafting shine through in ‘Party,’ an Afrobeats party starter. Lojay’s R&B joint, ‘Jolie Jellof,’ is a showcase of his cadences and catchy one-liners, creating a smooth and melodious track.

Basketmouth also brings out the best in Laycon in ‘Koko,’ while Falz contributes calm flows in an attempt to sweet talk a lady, all set against a minimalist Doktor Sett production.

The album’s first half is promising and offers a delightful listening experience. However, with the second half scheduled for release later next year, the project appears somewhat incomplete. The full album may provide a more comprehensive perspective on ‘Uburu.’ It’s advisable to reserve judgment until the entire album is available, considering Basketmouth’s track record of delivering enjoyable music projects.

In the meantime, the first half of ‘Uburu’ offers an easy and enjoyable musical journey, leaving room for anticipation regarding the complete album’s potential impact.
