A former Senator who represented Kogi East between 1999 and 2023, Alex Kadiri has appealed to fellow party members not to set the state on fire through inflammatory statements as the November 11 Governoship election approaches.

The 82 year old ex senator told our correspondent in an interview that he had been saddened by the turn of events within the party he helped to build and on the platform of which he represented Kogi Eastern Senatorial district at the inception of the present political dispensation in 1999.

“I am being forced to speak out because of the issues bothering Nigeria including my state,Kogi . As a senior citizen, I cannot see my country going down the hill and I will do or say nothing. I worked for this party but I am not happy with what has been happening since we were given the victory.

Speaking against the backdrop of the forthcoming election in Kogi state Senator Alex Kadiri said “Look at what is
happening in my state, when I speak they say they should expel me, for what? In APC we can not talk again.

According to him, “What has APC government done in Kogi State to warrant them fieding a candidate for the next election? Nothing. Yet the National chairman took a delegation to Lokoja, all of them were laughing gleefuly. I felt ashamed. At least they did not fly into Lokoja because Lokoja has no Airport, so it muat have been through the roads in Lokoja. The road that took him to Government House in Lokoja, is there any such road in Kano State, Where he governed for eight years and earlier as deputy for eight years.?

All they want is somebody who will go and kill, maime people, burn houwes, burn cars and then all the educated people are in the diasporas, they are afraid of going home so that APC can win. All they want is success” the elder statesman fumed.

“I feel sad that leaders of my party will say go and bring victory and let us go to Tribunal we will see judges. They are making mockery of judges.
This is not the type of democracy I thought I will be participating in”. He lamented further.

He expressed sadness over his inability to see prudent Tinubu to express his feelings and probably offer a piece of advice on the way out of the present quagmire.

” I have tried to see Tinubu by myself one on one, but I am good enough to publish it so that anyone who reads will know that this man had been struggling to see the President one on one. Before the election based on all I knew about him, I wanted to ask him pertinent questions so that he can answer.

He said that APC is indebted to Nigerians by providing good governance instead of threatening them.

“I want my party to know that Nigerians do not owe us any obligation, we owe them obligation, we should not be threatening them”. He added.
